Dr. Rajesh Rengasamy is a first-generation entrepreneur and the Founder & CEO of METABIX, where he leads Chemistry Operations and oversees the company’s overall management, strategic planning, business development, and customer relationships.

He began his academic journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Madras Christian College, Chennai, one of India’s most prestigious institutions. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Gyeongsang National University, South Korea, followed by post-doctoral research at the University of South Alabama, USA, where he also served as a teaching assistant for undergraduate students. Over his scientific career, Dr. Rajesh has secured 8 patents and authored several peer-reviewed publications.

Bringing over 18 years of global industrial experience, he has worked in USA, South Korea, China, and India, primarily in drug discovery, spanning both small molecule research and targeted protein degradation (PROTACs).

His notable scientific contributions include the discovery of:

·         OBX02-011 – an EGFR inhibitor for the treatment of lung cancer.

·         J2H-2002 – an EGFR-targeting PROTAC, also developed for lung cancer.
Both molecules have progressed through various phases of clinical development.

In addition to his drug discovery work, Dr. Rajesh has led projects in custom synthesis, process development, specialty chemicals, organic materials, prodrugs, and metabolites.

In 2022, he founded METABIX with a vision to build a differentiated Contract Research Organization (CRO), delivering cutting-edge chemistry solutions with scientific excellence and client-focused innovation at its core.
